Plot Overview
On the snow-bound Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service tracker Cory Lambert (Jeremy Renner) discovers the frozen body of 18-year-old Natalie Hanson (Kelsey Asbille). Natalie died from pulmonary hemorrhage after inhaling subzero air while running barefoot across miles of snow.
The FBI sends rookie agent Jane Banner (Elizabeth Olsen) to lead the investigation. Unprepared for the brutal winter conditions and complex jurisdictional barriers between tribal law enforcement and federal authorities, Jane enlists Cory’s tracking expertise. Cory agrees to help, driven by unresolved grief over his own daughter’s unsolved death years earlier.
As Cory and Jane follow the clues, their investigation leads them to a secluded oil drilling site, uncovering a dark trail of sexual violence, isolation-driven cabin fever, and systemic injustice.
