Plot Overview
Set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the series chronicles the major events of Middle-earth’s Second Age.
Beginning during a time of relative peace following the defeat of the dark lord Morgoth, the narrative follows an ensemble cast across Middle-earth as re-emerging evil takes hold:
-
The Forging of the Rings: Driven by the deceptive influence of Sauron (disguised as Halbrand and Annatar), the Elven-smith Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) is manipulated into crafting the Rings of Power to preserve Elven realms and grant dominion across realms.
-
The Rise of Sauron: Relentless Elven warrior Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) hunts the remnants of evil, realizing too late that her ally Halbrand is Sauron himself, setting the stage for his consolidation of power in Mordor.
-
The Kingdom of Númenor: Political tension and hubris brew within the island realm of Númenor under Regent Queen Míriel and Lord Elendil, foreshadowing the legendary fall of the greatest human civilization.
-
The Dwarven Realm of Khazad-dûm: Elrond (Robert Aramayo) builds a deep friendship with Prince Durin IV (Owain Arthur) as the Dwarves discover Mithril, accidentally awakening a ancient darkness deep beneath the Misty Mountains.
-
The Harfoots & The Stranger: A migratory nomadic tribe of proto-Hobbits encounters a mysterious, powerful man who fell from the sky in a meteor, embarking on a quest to discover his identity and magic.
