Plot Overview
Stanley Jobson (Hugh Jackman) is a convicted master hacker living in isolation, forbidden by law from touching a computer after disrupting an FBI surveillance program. Desperate to regain custody of his daughter, he is approached by the alluring Ginger Knowles (Halle Berry), who offers him $100,000 just to meet her employer.
Ginger introduces Stanley to Gabriel Shear (John Travolta), the charismatic leader of a covert counter-terrorist organization called “Black Cell.” Gabriel forces Stanley to build a worm program capable of siphoning $9.5 billion in unused government slush funds from a DEA front account.
As Stanley delves deeper into the operation, he discovers that Gabriel’s true motive is to fund ruthless anti-terrorist retaliation strikes around the globe. Caught between FBI Agent J.T. Roberts (Don Cheadle) and Gabriel’s lethal henchmen, Stanley must navigate hostage standoffs, double-crosses, and high-tech deception to survive and save his daughter.
