Plot Overview
Following the loss of his wife, Taylor Wyatt (Tony Hale) struggles to keep his family together while trying to sell their home with help from his real estate agent sister, Liz (D’Arcy Carden). His young daughter, Amber (Bianca Belle), copes with her grief by drawing dark, violent monsters in her sketchbook, which her school counselor encourages as an outlet for her anger.
Her adventurous brother, Jack (Kue Lawrence), stumbles upon a mysterious pond in the nearby woods that possesses miraculous powers—first fixing his broken cell phone and healing his injured hand. Curiosity leads Amber to the pond, where her entire sketchbook filled with monstrous creations accidentally falls into the water.
The next day, Amber’s terrifying drawings come to life and invade the town. From swarms of multi-eyed spider creatures (“eyeders”) to a monstrous version of Amber herself, the unleashed beasts wreak havoc and hold a school bus hostage. Realizing what they have done, Amber and Jack must use the pond’s magic to draw and animate hero creatures and weapons, fighting alongside their father to save the town and confront physical representations of their shared family grief.
